The Genius of Wallpapering, April 26, 2009
Re-read Romans 12:2bThe word transformed is in the passive voice, God is the one Who takes care of the transforming. You and I are the recipients of the action. Note also that it is an imperative, meaning that you and I have a responsibility to create a conducive environment for the transformation to happen. That command is also in the present tense meaning that it is an on-going process; it's not something you do once and you are good to go. Sounds a bit like verse one with the word "offer." God begins to change the thinking. The inward change will lead to outward behavior.
Focusing the mind is key to transformation.
Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.
Colossians 3:2 (NIV) Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
What are the key words in these two verses and what would it look like for you to apply them personally?
Read 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
Beth Moore explains it this way; we are to wallpaper our minds with the truth for that is the filter system with which we view the rest of life. Our diet must consist of consistent consumption of truth…God's Word.
What would it look like for you to consistently read, muse and apply Bible reading?
What needs to take place for that to start happening?
What are the barriers for that to happen?
Read Romans 12:3
Three basic questions we all ask: Who am I (Identity), Where do I belong (Security), What am I supposed to do (Significance)?
Romans 12:3-8 addresses all three questions.
Genuine humility is actually understanding who God made you to be. Until you understand and embrace who God made you to be, you will find yourself incredibly judgmental of others…agree or disagree?
