Walk a Mile in Your Neighbor's Shoes, May 10, 2009
Read Matthew 5:43-48What hurdles will you have to overcome to embrace this lifestyle?
What will be the greatest barrier you will need to address?
Most of us want to be understood and treated with grace while we tend to think others should be treated with justice. Why would this be the case for most of us?
Re-read Romans 12:9-13
Look at the list of challenges Paul lays out and muse on each one (don't be in a hurry…this may take all week). What would it look like to fully embrace each one?
Sincerely Love (Where are you faking it & why?)
Hate evil ( How close do you get to embracing evil?)
Cling to what is good (What would clinging look like?)
Be devoted to one another (Would devotion be what describes you?)
Honor one another above yourself (Define honor and apply that)
Don't lack in zeal (What are you zealous about?)
Keep your spiritual fervor (What keeps your relationship with Christ vibrant?)
Driven by joy (What drives you?)
Patient in difficult times (What is revealed in you during difficult times?)
Faithful in prayer (How often are you conversing with Christ?)
Share with those in need (Do you have an open hand?)
Practice hospitality (Do you take note of the needs of others around you?)
All of these characteristics are in the present tense and should be on-going…
Are there exceptions and seasons when you should not live this way?
Read John 15:5 to know how you will begin to experience this kind of lifestyle.
