Professional Affiliation Denomination

New Covenant Community Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), the largest Protestant denomination in the world.

What is the Southern Baptist Convention?

It is the largest association of churches in the world with more than 40,000 churches and 15 million members in the United States--more than most other denominations combined.

It is the most diverse association of churches that include every race, nationality and ethnic group. Each Sunday, in the U.S. alone, services are held in more than 80 languages.

It is historically one of the fastest-growing groups, with more than 1,000 new Christians baptized and nearly five new churches started every day.

Why not just be an independent church?

We are! Every SBC church is completely independent. There is no denominational control or hierarchy. Each church is self-governed and determines its own affairs, such as choosing its pastor, owning its buildings and assets and determining its own programs..

What are the advantages of affiliating with the SBC?

It allows us to identify with other Christians who are known for their commitment to the Bible. The SBC has no man-made "creed." The Bible is our only authority.

It allows our church to participate in the largest missionary organization in the world. Through the SBC financial base known as the "Cooperative Program," we help support over 7,500 missionaries in 104 countries. Members of New Covenant are able to serve as missionaries without having to raise support independently.

Remaining part of a larger group brings an accountability that keeps us from straying into the errors of many cults and cult-like churches.
