Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) season has arrived!

Samaritan’s Purse sends gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need around the world together with the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every year as a church we have participated in making shoeboxes, collecting, and volunteering for OCC. We are again offering three great ways for you to be involved.

Choose from one or more of these options:

  • Pack a Shoebox: Our promotion table outside the coffee area in the gathering space will have everything you need to get started. Pack one or more boxes (this is a great activity to do with family, friends or small groups), making sure your boxes are Fun (include a "Wow toy and other gifts to delight the child), Full (add school supplies & personal care items to fill empty spaces) and Personalized (include a note and cover your box in prayer)! Don't forget your $10 shipping donation (scan the label QR code or mail donations using the brochure postage-paid envelope). Drop off your boxes at New Covenant on Sunday, October 20th, thru Sunday, November 17th.

Due to space limitations this year, New Covenant will not be a Community Collection Site.

November 18-25, 2024 Community Collection Sites are:

  • Zion Church, 5511 S 27th St.
  • Capitol City Church, 7800 Holdrege St.

  • Pack a Shoebox Online: For just $25 you make selections of what to pack and Samaritan’s Purse does the rest! These boxes are designated for hard-to-reach countries requiring specially packed boxes to meet strict customs regulations and often significant religious restrictions.

  • Adopt a Shoebox: These shoeboxes were packed by the "New Cov shoebox shoppers" and just need the $10 suggested shipping donation to send them on their way. Super easy! BTW the shipping donation also helps cover collecting, processing, and evangelism training and materials.

  • You can also volunteer to serve during National Collection Week (Nov. 18-25): Due to current spatial limitations, New Cov will not serve as a Drop-off location for other churches this year. 2024 Community Collection Sites are Zion Church (5511 S 27th St.) and Capitol City Church (7800 Holdrege St.). Please contact our New Cov Drop Off leader, Heather Ingracia at 402-450-5433 or heather.ingracia@gmail.com and she can direct you how to plug in to volunteer during National Collection Week.
